The Hardships
"Indian Muslim Women will Walk with the Quran in One Hand and the Constitution in the Other," Shaista Amber.
A woman of substance, driven to implement reforms and bring joy into the lives of many sisters. Women have made progress in society over the years, yet in the male-dominated environment, they continue to live in the labyrinth.
Mrs. Shaista Amber, the courageous and fearless president of the "All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board," has brought about a sea change in how Indian women live their lives. Mrs. Shaista launched one of the most significant civil society movements and brought the Nikahama in 2008, broadening the scope of her revolution against gender inequality.
With invincible bravery, she has faced the criticism of a few self-proclaimed custodians of the faiths. However, she kept hiking on her path and fought for equal rights for women in Indian society.
Known as the person who defied discriminatory laws based on gender, Mrs. Shaista leads a revolutionary group of ladies who skilfully and covertly bring about change in their sister's lives. She established the first mosque with a separate wing for women. The mosque is powered entirely by solar energy.
Pained to see patient attendants of nearby SGPGI hospital without a place to stay, Mrs Shaista established a shelter home for anyone who cannot afford to stay in a guest house. So, they can stay here regardless of their religion, caste, or nationality. The country requires such a courageous, intellectual, and compassionate individual to implement reforms for improved socioeconomic prosperity.
